Hospitality businesses need spaces that adapt quickly. A hotel function suite may host a conference one day and a wedding the next, a restaurant may want a private dining room that opens back into the main space on busy nights, and back-of-house areas need offices, staff rooms and secure storage. Operable folding walls, glazed screens and stud partitions can deliver all of these, with finishes such as timber framed or black framed glazing chosen to suit the interior design, the brand and the guest experience.
Guest disruption is usually the main constraint. Work is scheduled around bookings, service times and quieter periods, and noisy tasks can be planned for closed days or overnight so guests are not affected. Fire safety and escape routes need particular care in spaces where large numbers of guests gather, and operable walls need a structural check of the ceiling above. A free site survey confirms the options, the building's requirements and guide prices before any commitment, and the programme is agreed with your operations team in advance.
What does a hospitality project usually need?
Flexible function space
Operable folding walls that divide large rooms for conferences, events and private dining, then stack away neatly to reopen the full space whenever it is needed.
Guest-facing finishes
Timber framed, black framed or frameless glazing and finishes chosen to match the interior design and brand, with manifestation designed to suit the scheme.
Acoustic separation between events
Acoustic partitions and operable walls specified with tested sound ratings, so that neighbouring events, meeting rooms or guest bedrooms are not disturbed by each other.
Work around bookings
Programmes planned around service times, bookings and quieter periods, with night or closed-day working wherever guest-facing areas are affected by the work.

How do operable walls work in a function room?
Operable walls are a series of panels hung from a ceiling track that can be slid out to divide a room and stacked away to reopen it. Acoustic seals at the top and bottom close against the floor and track. Guide prices are around £900–£1,600 per m², excluding VAT, confirmed after survey.
Can partitions be installed without closing a hotel?
Usually, yes. Work can be phased and scheduled around bookings, with noisy tasks planned for quieter periods or out of hours. Guest areas are protected and kept separate from the work. Out-of-hours working typically adds 15–25% to labour costs.
Do operable walls need structural support?
Often, yes. Operable walls are heavy and hang from a ceiling track, so the structure above must be able to carry the load, sometimes with additional steelwork. A structural check is part of the design. Lead times are typically 6–10 weeks from design sign-off.
