How much do glass manifestation & privacy film cost?
Full-height privacy film runs about £45–£85 per m² depending on film type and design complexity, while simple safety bands start from about £15–£35 per linear metre. Typical lead time: 1–2 weeks. Guide prices, supply and install — fixed after a free survey.
Why choose glass manifestation & privacy film?
Every glass partition needs manifestation, and many need more privacy than clear glass gives. Film solves both. At its simplest, manifestation is a pair of frosted bands or a dot pattern at the heights set by Approved Document K, so people notice the glass. Beyond that, privacy film can cover a band from desk height to standing eye level, a full panel, or a gradient that fades from opaque at the bottom to clear at the top. The choice controls how much people outside can see while keeping daylight in the room.
Film is also the simplest way to put your brand on the office. Logos, patterns, room names and wayfinding can be cut from frosted or coloured film and fitted to existing glass without replacing anything. We prepare digital proofs at full scale so you can check the heights and how the design reads from a seat. Because film is applied to the inside face of the glass, it can be changed later when the brand, room names or layout change, without disturbing the partition itself.
Compliance on every panel
We check every pane of clear glass against Approved Document K and apply manifestation at the right heights, closing a common gap found in fit-out audits.
Privacy without losing light
Frosted and gradient film obscure views into rooms while still letting daylight through, which blinds and solid walls cannot do.
Brand on the glass
Logos, patterns and room names in film give a workplace identity and help visitors find their way, at a modest cost compared with signage.
Easy to change later
Film can be removed and replaced when rooms are renamed, the brand changes or privacy needs shift, without replacing glass or disturbing the partition.

- Ground-floor street windows
What regulations and practical points apply?
Approved Document K and regulation 14 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 require clear glazing in critical locations to be marked so it is visible, in two zones at 850–1000mm and 1400–1600mm above floor level. The marking must contrast with the background seen through the glass in different lighting conditions, so very faint designs may not work. Privacy film does not reduce sound. Film on fire-rated glass should be checked against the manufacturer's guidance before application. In leased buildings, landlords sometimes control film on external glazing, so check before applying to windows facing the street.
How is it installed?
After a survey to measure each pane and check existing marking, we prepare full-scale proofs for approval. On site, glass is cleaned and degreased, film is applied by hand with application fluid or dry method, then squeegeed and trimmed. Old film can be removed first if needed. A typical floor of meeting rooms takes one to two days, and work is quiet enough to carry out while the office is in use, with rooms closed for an hour or two each.

Glass Manifestation & Privacy Film FAQs
How much does office privacy film cost?
Full-height privacy film typically costs £45–£85 per m² supplied and installed, excluding VAT, depending on film type and design. Simple safety manifestation bands start from about £15–£35 per linear metre. Printed and custom-cut branded designs sit at the upper end. We confirm a fixed price after a free survey.
At what height should glass manifestation be?
Under Approved Document K, manifestation should be placed in two zones: one between 850mm and 1000mm above floor level, and another between 1400mm and 1600mm. That covers people of different heights, including children and wheelchair users. The marking should contrast with the view behind it.
Is glass manifestation a legal requirement in offices?
Yes, where clear glazing could be mistaken for an opening. Regulation 14 of the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 requires transparent surfaces to be marked where necessary for safety, and Approved Document K sets out how. In practice, almost all office glass partitions and doors need it.
Can privacy film be removed later?
Yes. Commercial interior film can be removed with gentle heat and adhesive remover without damaging the glass. That makes it easy to update branding, room names or privacy levels later. We can remove old film and apply new in the same visit.
Does privacy film make glass soundproof?
No. Privacy film only changes what can be seen through the glass and has no meaningful effect on sound. If conversations are being overheard, look at acoustic glass, door seals and gaps above the ceiling instead. Film is often combined with these measures.
