How much do partition relocation & reconfiguration cost?
The system type and its condition, how far it moves, how many new parts are needed to suit the new layout, and access at both locations set the price, typically 35–60% of new. Typical lead time: 1–3 weeks. Guide prices, supply and install — fixed after a free survey.
Why choose partition relocation & reconfiguration?
Many partitions are designed to be moved, but they often end up in a skip at the end of a lease or during a reorganisation. If the system is a framed glass or demountable panel type in reasonable condition, it can usually be dismantled, stored if needed and refitted for considerably less than new, often around 35–60% of the cost. It also avoids sending glass and aluminium to waste, which helps if your organisation reports on fit-out waste or embodied carbon.
Not every partition is a good candidate. Frameless glass fixed with silicone, older systems where parts are no longer available, and panels cut to odd sizes can make relocation uneconomic. We survey both the existing installation and the new space, identify which components can be reused, and price any new panels, glass or tracks needed to suit the new layout. Where a new layout is on the same floor, we can phase the work to keep teams working, moving one room at a time.
Lower cost than new
Reusing glass, frames and panels typically costs around 35–60% of a new installation, freeing budget for furniture, IT or other parts of the move.
Less waste
Keeping glass and aluminium in use reduces skips and landfill, and supports environmental reporting on fit-out waste and embodied carbon.
Familiar finishes kept
Teams keep the partitions, doors and finishes they know, and the new layout matches existing rooms that are staying in place.
Phased, room by room
On the same floor, rooms can be moved one at a time, so most teams keep working while the layout changes around them.

What are the specifications?
| Suitable systems | Framed single and double glazed, demountable solid and glazed panel systems |
|---|---|
| Less suitable | Silicone-jointed frameless glass, damaged or discontinued systems |
| Typical reuse | Glass, frames, panels, doors and hardware where dimensions allow |
| New components | Replacement tracks, seals, gaskets, cut-down or new panels as needed |
| Storage | Labelled storage of components between dismantling and refit on request |
| Glazing checks | Glass inspected for damage and safety marking before refitting |
| Cost guide | Typically 35–60% of the cost of new partitions |
Where are partition relocation & reconfiguration used?
- Office moves and relocations
- Team reorganisations
- Converting offices to meeting rooms
- Resizing rooms
- End-of-lease reinstatement
- Consolidating floors
What regulations and practical points apply?
Before relocating, check that the system is suitable and that replacement parts are still available. Glass must be inspected for chips and edge damage, since damaged toughened glass can fail unexpectedly, and any reused glass must still meet Approved Document K for the new location. New layouts may change escape routes, fire separation or ventilation, so check Building Control requirements. Fire-rated partitions can only be relocated if the system is refitted exactly as tested. Leases often require the original space to be reinstated, and the new landlord will usually need to approve the layout through a licence for alterations.
How is it installed?
We survey the existing partitions, number and photograph every component, then agree the new layout. On site, glass and panels are removed in sequence, labelled and packed, and tracks are taken out with the ceiling and floor made good where required. Components go to storage or straight to the new location, where tracks are set out, panels and glass refitted and new parts added. A single room can be moved in one to two days; a full floor takes one to two weeks.
Free survey
We visit, measure up, check ceilings, floors and services, and talk through how the space needs to work.
Design and fixed price
You receive a layout, specification and a fixed, itemised quote. Nothing is ordered until you approve the drawings.
Manufacture and planning
Glass and components are made to the surveyed sizes while we plan access, deliveries and any out-of-hours working.
Installation and handover
The team installs, snags and cleans, then hands over with test evidence and care guidance.
Partition Relocation & Reconfiguration FAQs
How much does it cost to relocate office partitions?
Relocating partitions typically costs £120–£260 per m² supplied and installed, excluding VAT, often around 35–60% of the cost of new. The system, condition, distance and the number of new parts needed for the new layout set the price. We confirm a fixed price after surveying both locations.
Can glass partitions be moved to a new office?
Framed glass and demountable systems usually can, provided the glass is in good condition and the panel sizes suit the new layout. Frameless glass fixed with silicone joints is harder to move and is sometimes better replaced. We survey and advise which parts are worth reusing.
Is it cheaper to move partitions or buy new?
Moving is usually cheaper, typically around 35–60% of the cost of new for suitable systems. The saving shrinks if many panels need resizing or the system is damaged or discontinued. We price both options so you can compare like for like.
Can fire rated partitions be relocated?
Only if the complete tested system can be refitted exactly as tested, with the correct frames, glass, seals, fixings and door hardware. Missing or damaged parts must be replaced with the system's own components. If that is not possible, the relocated wall cannot be relied on as fire rated.
How long does it take to move office partitions?
A single room usually takes one to two days to dismantle and refit. A full floor typically takes one to two weeks, depending on the amount of new material and access at both sites. Work on the same floor can be phased so teams keep working.
